Frustrated

I've been planning to go back to college either in January or next Fall. Also, I've been planning to move out of Mom's house sometime relatively soon. In order to do so, I requested that my Sallie Mae payments be lowered from $264/mo to $75/mo, considering my monthly income after expenses is $200. Apparently, Sallie Mae couldn't give a shit less how much money I (don't) have, because they rejected my request to lower my payments. I know that worrying about it will solve nothing, but I have literally no idea how I'll be making these payments. I guess I can say goodbye to college and ever moving out of this place. I need a miracle.

  1. Don't those payments "defer" while you are in school?????

  2. Yeah, when you enroll in school your payments will almost definitely be deferred. I would recommend staying at home until you go to school, and if I were to start college now I would start with a couple of semesters online to knock out your core classes because A) it's cheaper B) it looks exactly the same on your transcript C) it gives you time to make a definite decision on what you want your focus to be.

Those are some tips from your fellow indebted student.

  3. I agree with Kyle. Those general education classes are a good idea to get out of the way. And online would be a good way to go with time limits and work. A lot better than long night classes. But we can talk tomorrow! :)

  4. Well thank you folks. My (Heath's) only concern with taking classes online or at Ivy Tech is that it's apparently harder to get scholarships as a transfer student. Also, I already know what I want to major/minor in, do you work on your minor all 4 years? I need to talk to someone about this.
