So I had this client today...she was my coworker's nephew's fiance (try to keep up). She came in for me to do a trial run for her wedding. She showed me a "style" she found in a bridal book that was just a girl with long, wavy (not curly) hair, with some of the top pinned back. Well, when one has stick straight hair, the best way to achieve natural looking waves is to section the hair into big braids and dry the hair under a hood dryer until it's completely dry. This is what I did. Up front, I explained to the girl what I was going to do and that it would be time consuming to assure that the hair would be dry, she was fine with it. I proceeded to do all of this and finish the style. She said there were a couple things she wanted to change - but seemed happy overall. She left without saying anything negative and paid with no complaints.
Well, about 15-20 minutes later, my coworker's sister calls in and immediately starts getting angry with me about how the girl was disappointed, and I overcharged her, and it took way too much time, etc etc etc. She kept saying the girl was "just so young, she doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings." Okay, she's 22, has 2 children and a fiance...if she's "just so young" and can't handle something this small on her own, she has NO business getting married. Had she just spoken up to begin with, no drama would've ensued from this entire situation. Of course, I refunded her nearly half of what I charged, because I decided to be the bigger person. The end.
Welcome to the world of dealing with people.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder Greggie is so cynical after working in the ER all these years.
People are crazy, tell Greggie I'm joining him in the world of cynicism!
